Dialogue of Cultures: East and West Discuss Family Values
On April 14, CITS hosted a roundtable titled East and West: Linguacultural Communicative Space. The event was organized as part of an international partnership with Abu Rayhan Biruni University (Republic of Uzbekistan), with active participation from students of the Department of Asian Languages and master’s students in Linguistics.
The discussion centered on the concept of family, a foundational value in every culture. Participants emphasized that in an era of globalization, the status of the family is evolving, presenting new characteristics that require collaborative analysis through various linguistic and cultural lenses.
The roundtable featured a diverse range of insights, highlighting how modern families are shifting to adopt new forms and meanings. Attendees stressed the critical importance of evaluating these sociological transformations together, paying special attention to how language shapes public perceptions of family structures, relationships, and core values.
