CITS and the UN Linguistic Services Strengthen Mutual Cooperation

CITS staff took part in the annual seminar held by the UN Information Center in Moscow in collaboration with the Department of Linguistic Support of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This meeting is a key platform for discussions in the field of interpreter training.

The 13th seminar gathered the representatives of intepreting schools, translation companies and linguistic support departments of the UN and MFA of Russia. The participants discussed the following topics: intepreting manpower and russian intepreting departments’ specifics of work in the UN, quality of intepreters’ training in the universities of Russia, training experience exchange, comparison of working curricula and programs, as well as methodology, standartization and practical aspects of intepreters’ training.

The participants also summarized the results of 2024 and conducted plans for 2025. The representatives of the universities then shared relevant challenges faced by the intepreting schools, disclosed the problems of the interpreters’ training and conducted plans for the next year.
