CITS Hosts Masterclass on the Art of Self-Presentation for Future Interpreters

On 5 November, the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation held an interactive event titled The Art of Self-Presentation: Secrets of Interpreters, organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Foreign Languages for students of the Oriental Studies Department.
The lecture covered a wide range of topics, including the basics of business etiquette and the professional conduct expected of interpreters. As one student noted, Throughout our studies, we often wondered how an interpreter should behave while working, and thanks to this event, I finally found the answers.
Special attention was given to public speaking: participants received valuable advice on how to confidently open a speech, manage stage fright, maintain eye contact, and respond to unexpected situations.
Students also had the chance to apply their newly gained skills by interpreting challenging statements and analyzing both successful and unsuccessful examples presented through video case studies. I liked that, in addition to the lecture, we had a short activity — it really helped us recharge, one attendee shared.
The event helped future interpreters enhance their professional competencies and feel more confident, marking an important step in their career development.
