SciPitch 3.0: Science Made Clear and Engaging
As part of the celebration of Russian Science Day, the CITS, together with the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of Astrakhan Tatishchev State University, held the now traditional event SciPitch 3.0, a vibrant science communication initiative that once again proved that science can be clear, engaging, and truly exciting.
Participants presented their research in the format of short, dynamic talks delivered in English—free from excessive formality, yet rich in ideas and meaning. The topics varied widely, but all speakers shared a common goal: to talk about science in a way that is accessible, modern, and compelling.
A particularly encouraging aspect of the event was the active involvement of school students and local schools—not only as speakers, but also as an engaged audience. Students asked questions, took part in discussions, and genuinely immersed themselves in scientific dialogue. Among the participants were students from School No. 1 and Lyceum No. 1 of Astrakhan, demonstrating the importance of early engagement in a science- and language-oriented environment.
Special attention was given to the linguistic component of the event. Simultaneous interpretation was provided by participants of the annual Basic Course in Simultaneous Interpreting at CITS, as well as first-year master’s students. For them, SciPitch 3.0 became a valuable opportunity to work with a real client, develop professional skills, and apply their knowledge in conditions closely resembling real-life practice.
SciPitch 3.0 is more than just presentations. It is live communication, an exchange of ideas, intensive English practice, professional growth, and a strong sense of belonging to the wider scientific community.
We thank all speakers, interpreters, and attendees.
Onward to new ideas, new languages, and new discoveries!
