Master Class Series from Interpreters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Continues

On December 16, CITS and FFL staff had an online meeting with interpreters from the Department of Linguistic Support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for another interesting interpreting class. The training is a traditional series of master classes given by interpreters of DLS of MFA of Russia, which are held at the beginning and end of each year.

The class began with a warm-up exercise to memorize a text with numerals and statistics. Then our specialists interpreted a political text from English into Russian. During the class the participants actively discussed the proposed interpretation options as well as various aspects related to the specifics of lexicalization in accordance with the requirements of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. DLS specialists focused on specific lexical units that should not be intepreted literally.
