CITS Experts Take Part in the All-Russian Youth Translation Workshop

Staff members of the the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation (CITS) took part in the All-Russian Youth Translation Workshop, a large-scale online event that for the first time brought together representatives of youth and volunteer sections of regional branches of the Union of Translators of Russia.
The geography of the participants was truly impressive. Colleagues from Mordovia, Dagestan, Ufa, Buryatia, Perm, Volgograd, and many other regions of Russia joined the online meeting, along with international participants, including representatives from Greece. Such a wide range of contributors made the professional discussion especially dynamic and multifaceted.

As part of the workshop, CITS experts delivered a presentation entitled From the Experience of the Caspian Institute of Translation Studies: Contemporary Challenges and Issues. The speakers addressed current translation-related challenges in the Caspian region and discussed practical ways to overcome them. Particular attention was given to one of CITS’s flagship projects – SpeechTRAIN, a multimedia platform for training conference interpreters developed by CITS specialists and having no equivalents in Russia. The analytical discussion was enriched with real-life professional stories and insights into how CITS trains translators capable of meeting the demands of today’s rapidly changing professional environment.
The presentation aroused keen interest among the participants and received high praise from the professional community. President of the Union of Translators of Russia, Olga Ivanova, personally commented on the presentation, noting: These young specialists think strategically. They are true professionals. It is always a pleasure to listen to such competent young people!
