CITS at the 7th Winter Translation School of the Union of Translators of Russia
From February 3 to 5, the 7th Winter Translation School of the Union of Translators of Russia brought together university lecturers, professional translators and scholars specializing in translation theory and practice.
As part of the Poetry Translation module, experts from the CITS, Uliana Saveleva, Elena Yakovleva and Dmitry Marshalkin, delivered a masterclass entitled:
Poetry as the Translator’s Element: Translating Verse as a Component of Interpreter Training Based on English and Persian Cultures.
The session introduced methodological and practical approaches to working with poetic texts and demonstrated the role of poetry translation in developing key professional competencies of interpreters. Particular attention was paid to conveying imagery, rhythmic and intonational patterns, as well as culturally specific elements of the source text.
The masterclass included case analysis, discussion of translation strategies and an exchange of professional experience.
