Each year, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) selects candidates from around the world through a highly competitive process for its internship program.ASU Linguistics Student Awarded Prestigious Internship at WIPO

This opportunity arises from a Memorandum of Understanding between Astrakhan State University (ASU) and WIPO. Under this agreement, the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation (CITS) runs an annual terminology project that contributes to the WIPO Pearl database, a key resource for standardizing patent-related terminology. The project is supervised by Uliana Savelyeva, Head of CITS and Associate Professor at the Department of English Philology, Language Didactics and Translation.

Karina Abdrakhmanova, a student of the Faculty of Foreign Languages specializing in Linguistic Support of Interstate Relations (English), has successfully passed the rigorous three-stage selection process. She received the long-awaited official letter from WIPO confirming her acceptance as an intern and will begin her traineeship this October.

This is an incredible opportunity and, without exaggeration, one of the most significant moments in my professional life. I am grateful to ASU for the fundamental knowledge and support, and to my teachers for their attention, mentorship, and belief in me, shared Karina Abdrakhmanova.
