CITS Hosts Event in Honor of International Day of the Deaf

The CITS hosted a special event dedicated to the International Day of the Deaf. The guests of honor included Mrs. Tatiana Borisova, Chair of the Astrakhan Regional Branch of the All-Russian Society of the Deaf, Russian Sign Language (RSL) interpreters, native RSL speakers, as well as staff and students of Astrakhan Tatishchev State University.

The event program featured a master class, a performance of the Russian national anthem in RSL, and an open dialogue session with native RSL speakers, all of which was supported by simultaneous interpretation into Russian Sign Language.

Students actively participated in the master class, learning basic speech gestures, and engaged in a vibrant dialogue with the invited guests. They were also seen enthusiastically signing along with the guests during the performance of the national anthem.

Furthermore, a new professional development course, Accessible Environment in Education: Skills for Communicating with People with Hearing and Visual Impairments, was presented at the event.
