CITS Hosts Med Talks Roundtable: Bridging Medicine, Language, and Science
Science, networking, and vibrant dialogue defined the atmosphere at the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation (CITS) during a recent joint event. The roundtable gathered members of the Council of Young Scientists alongside students from Astrakhan State Medical University (ASMU).
The event brought together proactive and driven students, young researchers, and specialists dedicated to expanding their knowledge while advancing their careers in science and project management.
For the ASMU students, Med Talks offered a premier platform to present their research findings in English, debate pressing scientific issues, and gain experience in professional international communication. The interactive format allowed participants to step beyond standard presentations and fully immerse themselves in the dynamics of an authentic academic conference.
The roundtable carried exceptional practical value for CITS master’s students and trainees from the Introduction to Conference Interpreting course, who provided simultaneous interpreting throughout the entire event. The project served as a comprehensive, real-world internship, tasking the language specialists with client relations, complex medical terminology management, and full accountability for interpretation quality under real conference conditions.
Gatherings like Med Talks demonstrate that science extends far beyond lab research and publications, it is a space for fresh ideas, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and personal growth.
